Let me start by giving you a little background information on exactly why I began making my own pistol grips. After purchasing my first CZ handgun - P-01, I realized that I need a set of comfortable and good looking custom grips for it…Then I realized that practically nobody makes aftermarket grips for CZ handgun. After searching the net I ran across a website where Hakan Pek from Norway had made stocks from a wonderful Amboyna wood. I did not have patience to wait 2-3 months for the grips I wanted right away. So, it was the only way to get custom grips ASAP - to make them! And I am glad - I did... I love working with wood scales since they tend to have very unique patterns and colors and make excellent looking grips. After the first set of grips, I started trying out other types of wood, some of which you can see on the Wood page. And now I am very proud to see my grips on the gun of
Custom Grips - Made to Order Handgun manufacturers do an excellent job of producing grips that everyone can use but mass marketing prevents hand fitting grips for individual shooters. The result is a universal gun handle instead of a comfortable, accurate grip. Universal factory handles make it difficult to hold the same grip for each shot. They concentrate recoil impact to certain small areas of the hand resulting in a stinging impact with each shot. My grips are designed to fill the hand and to make as much skin contact as possible. The idea is to distribute the recoil energy delivered to the hand over a greater area than the factory handle, thereby significantly reducing the felt impact in the hand. They do not reduce generated recoil energy. What they do is spread recoil energy over more skin surface which reduces impact concentration. For example: Fifteen foot/pounds of energy impacting six square inches of surface is exponentially lighter per square inch than fifteen foot/pounds impacting four square inches. A second common function is helping the shooter hold the same sighting grip shot after shot without the distraction of extra effort to do so. For that reason the custom handgun grips can have protrusions, thumb rests, and finger guards standard grips do not have. Also, the hand is positioned a little lower in relation to the trigger than standard grips. This relieves the stress of having to reach downward to the trigger. As you look through the grips for
sale
, and you don't
see what you're looking for, I can make a custom set of grips for you using the
wood type you specify. Prices are generally the cost of the wood + $70-90 labor,
and time to complete a set is generally about 5-6 weeks (from the time I receive
confirmed order and the scales). You can
contact me
with your request, and I will check the wood availability and give you an exact
quote and expected delivery date. Please keep in mind that I will do my best to
fulfill your request using the best premium wood scales available. You can also
send me scales that you provide, as long as the dimensions meet my requirements
(5"long x 2 1/2" wide x 1/2" thick are preferred). If for any reason you are not satisfied with your new custom pistol grips
that you purchased from me you can return them within 15 days for a full refund
less shipping cost, no questions asked. I reserve the right to refuse the return
of any grips that have been abused, nicked, chipped, cracked, etc. or been made
from the wood provided by customer, or with special design/logo/monogram. | ||||||||||||
